Presidential and Legislative Elections in Seychelles Called Together by President
Victoria, Mahé, Seychelles, July 30, 2020 – General Elections have been called by President Danny Faure in a surprising move citing economic reasons. Presidential elections were already called for 24 October and now the island’s Legislative Assembly is being dissolved in the next seven days after a call by President Danny Faure.
This will increase political activity in Seychelles where to date incumbent Danny Faure, Opposition Leader Wavel Ramkalawan, former Tourism Minister Alain St.Ange and former Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Pillay are already campaigning as presidential candidates.
National Assembly candidates will now be announced in the coming weeks as Seychelles prepares for its General Elections.
